Spoth and Yacawych Each One-Over on Day Two of Liberty League Championships

Verona, NY - Junior Eric Spoth recovered nicely with five birdies on Saturday and Tyler Yacawych matched his first day effort as the Clarkson University Golf team competed in the middle round of the Liberty League Championships, held at Shenendoah Golf Course at Turning Stone Resort. 

The Golden Knights still sit in seventh place in the standings with a total of 623 strokes through 36 holes. NYU leads at 573, followed by Rochester (584), Hobart (591), Skidmore (593), Rensselaer (596), St. Lawrence (608) and then Clarkson. 

Both Spoth and Yacawych moved up in the standings thanks to their day two performances. Yacawych moved up three rungs and is now tied for eighth with a two-day score of 146 thanks to his second round score of 73. He recorded birdies on back-to-back holes on the front nine, going one-under on a pair of par-fours on the fifth and sixth offerings at Shenendoah. Spoth went from last and jumped 10 spots to tie for 25th thanks to his 73 after an uncharacteristic round of 82 on Friday. Spoth notched five birdies in his day-two round, scoring four on the front nine and one on the back. He had a birdie on the fourth hole and then hit three in a row on the sixth, seventh, and eighth holes, ending with a 34 on the front nine. He added one ore on the back nine, going one-under on the par-four 13th hole. 

Luke Weisiger shot 82 on day two of the tournament and is at 159 after 36 holes, while Brian Secor recorded an 85 and is now at 165 through two days. Joe Tiderencel shot 87 on Saturday and is at 167 with one round remaining.
