Yacawych One-Over on Opening Day of Liberty League Championships

Verona, NY – Sophomore Tyler Yacawaych of the Clarkson University Golf team opened the Liberty League Championship Tournament with a one-over 73 on Friday, as the Golden Knights began the three-day tournament at Turning Stone.

After the first of three rounds at Shenendoah Golf Course at Turning Stone, the Golden Knights reside in seventh place among seven teams with a team score of 310. Through 18 holes, NYU is in first with a score of 280, followed by Skidmore (291), University of Rochester (293), Rensselaer (294), Hobart (295), St. Lawrence (301), and Clarkson (310).

Tyler Yacawych shot a one-over 73, tying for 11th among the field of 35 golfers, to headline Clarkson's day one at the Liberty League Championships, scoring a 35 on the front and then 38 on the back. He had eight pars on the front nine and posted a birdie on the par-five 551-yard fourth hole. The back wasn't quite as easy for Yacawych with just five pars, but he did still pick up a birdie on #15, a 432-yard par-four.

Luke Weisiger started off the day with bogeys on three of the first six holes, but recovered as the day went on, finishing with a 77, carding a 40 on the front and 37 on the back to tie for 25th in the field. Weisiger's birdie came on the 10th hole, a 506-yard par-five.

Brian Secor and Joe Tiderencel each finished with a score of 80, tying for 32nd through the first day, to round out Clarkson's day one score. Secor had bogeys on the second and third holes, but then ran off 11 straight pars, ending the day with a 38 on the front and 42 on the back. TIderencel shot 40 on both the front and back, recording a birdie on a short par-four, the 291-yard 16th hole.

Eric Spoth had his score of 82 dropped from the team tally, as he carded 41 on the front and back. He did notch a birdie on the front nine, going one-under on the par-four, 551-yard fourth hole. He was in 35th after the first 18 holes.
