The Liberty League Championship Tournament, held annually at Turning Stone Resort in Verona, NY, has finally arrived for the Clarkson University Golf Team, as the Golden Knights and the rest of the conference compete over 54 holes this weekend.

The Course: Shenendoah at Turning Stone is a par-72, 7002-yard course when played from the tournament tees, ending with a par-3 on the front nine and opening and ending with a par-5 on the back nine. Its shortest hole is #12, which is a 150-yard par-3, and the longest hole is a 567-yard par-five, #8 on the front nine.

The Team: Last year the tournament was limited to 45 holes as the middle round got reduced to just nine due to weather and course conditions. Eric Spoth ended the tournament in a tie for 27th with a score of 199 over 45 holes, while Tyler Yacawych shot 204 and Joe Tiderencel scored a 208. Clarkson's other competitors from 2025, Andrew Palmatier and Ryan Makowski, have either graduated or are out due to injury. Spoth enters the final weekend of the season with a scoring average of 75.58, about 4/10 a stroke better than his scoring average of a year ago, but .17 strokes short of his pace entering the 2025 Liberty League Championships. Yacawych is more than two strokes better than his average of 2025, averaging a sore of 76.54 strokes per 18 this year. Luke Weisiger has also been consistent at 77.05. Brian Secor, in his first season with the Golden Knights, enters the weekend at 77.92 strokes per 18, while Joe Tiderencel is at 78.94, nearly 2.5 strokes per 18 fewer than his sophomore campaign.
