Knights Close Out Final Regular-Season Tournament at Bethpage Red

Farmingdale, NY – A day after some very low scores for the field at large, the numbers grew larger on a colder day on Long Island, as the Clarkson University Golf team closed out its two-day performance at the Farmingdale State College Spring Invitational, held at Bethpage Red.

The Golden Knights finished the 36-hole tournament in 15th place among 16 teams with a score of 600 total strokes. Clarkson will next compete in the 54-hole Liberty League Championships on the final weekend of April.

Tyler Yacawych had the best two-day score for Clarkson, finishing in a tie for 36th in the field of 96 golfers. A day after scoring 71, Yacawych carded a 76, recording 12 pars in his second round.

Luke Weisiger finished his 36 holes with a score of 150, picking up a team-low 74 on Sunday thanks to three birdies, including two on the front nine and one on the back, as he shot 35 on the first nine holes to help place him in a tie for 57th.

Brian Secor repeated his first-round score with another 76 on Sunday, though he would go without an eagle like he had on Saturday. He still notched a birdie on #15 on the back nine and ended the tournament tied for 67th.

Eric Spoth's round of 78 closed out Clarkson's Sunday team score, ending the tournament with a two-day tally of 153 and placing him in a tie for 74th. Spoth posted a pair of birdies on the front nine, going one-under on a two par-three holes. Joe Tiderencel also ended up in a tie for 74th, though he shot a 79 on Sunday, scoring birds on the first and 15th holes.
