Four Knights in Top 10 at SUNY Canton Invite

Canton, NY – Junior Ryan Makowski continued the strong start to his third season with the Clarkson University Golf team as he carded a one-over par 73 on Thursday at the SUNY Canton Kangaroos Invitational, held at the par-72 Partridge Run Golf Course.

The Golden Knights finished second in the tournament, four strokes behind host SUNY Canton, with a stroke total of 303. Clarkson's B team was fifth out of nine teams at 317 strokes. The Knights will head to Vermont this weekend to compete at the Castleton Invitational.

Makowski ended up tied for third in the field of 48 golfers, shooting 37 on the front and 36 on the back. He registered five birdies overall, going one under on two par-fives, two par-fours, and one par-three. His scoring average through the first four competitive rounds in the fall of 2025 is 72.5 strokes.

Luke Weisiger was also consistent for the Knights, shooting 75 to tie for sixth in the field. He picked up birdies on the third hole, a par-five, and the 11th hole, a par-four. One stroke behind Weisiger was sophomore Tyler Yacawych, who scored a 76 to place ninth all on his own, going for bird on the last hole of the front nine and back nine, both par-fours. Eric Spoth rounded out Clarkson's 'A' team score with a 79, tying for 13th thanks to a birdie on 18. Alex Sweeney's score was dropped, but he still finished in the top half of the field with an 82, picking up birdies on numbers 10 and 13, good enough to tie for 23rd.

Clarkson's second team had a consistent top four, scoring between 78 and 80. Brian Secor went for a 37 on the back nine to tie for 10th in the field with a 78, picking up birdies on four holes, including three on the back side. Aaron Walsh picked up one birdie on a par-three on the front nine, carding a 79 to tie for 13th, while both Joe Tiderencel and Payne Wood tied for 18th with an 80, as each notched two birdies. Jace Dutch's 84 was dropped from the team score as he tied for 29th thanks to two birdies on the front nine. Vincent Magee played as an individual, tying for 32nd in the field on an 86.
