No. 9 Clarkson Visits Providence for Non-Conference Weekend Series
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The No. 9 Clarkson University Women's Hockey team heads to New England this weekend for a two-game non-conference set at Providence College. The Golden Knights and Friars will meet Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. and again Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Schneider Arena. Both games will stream live on ESPN+.
Clarkson enters the weekend looking to continue its strong start to the 2025–26 campaign. The Golden Knights have been among the nation's top-10 programs in the early weeks of the season, combining balanced scoring depth and steady defensive play to earn national recognition.
Providence, meanwhile, will look to bounce back on home ice after a challenging start to its season. The Friars enter the series 0–4–0 but have shown resilience through tough Hockey East competition, including matchups against nationally ranked Northeastern and Boston College. Goaltender Hope Walinski has been a bright spot for Providence, recording a career-high 43 saves in recent action.
Head Coach
Matt Desrosiers' squad will look to build on its early momentum and fine-tune its play before returning to ECAC Hockey action later this month. Providence, under Head Coach Matt Kelly, will aim to use the home atmosphere to spark its first win of the season and test one of the top teams in the country. For the two Had Coach's this will be a reunion of the staff that helped bring Clarkson their first National Championship in 2014, when Matt Kelly was the assistant to Matt and Shannon Desrosiers.
Puck drop for Friday's series opener is set for 11:00 a.m., with Saturday's finale scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Schneider Arena. Both games can be seen live on ESPN+.
