Knights Take Sixth at Skidmore Invite

Saratoga Springs, NY – Four members of the Clarkson University Golf team shot 74 or better on Sunday to close out the Skidmore Fall Golf Invitational at the par-72, 7145-yards Saratoga Spa State Park Golf Course.

The Golden Knights finished sixth in the field at +24 with a three-day score of 888, trailing Amherst (864), Trinity (869), Skidmore (874), NYU (884) and Bowdoin (886) but ahead of Williams (890), Middlebury (900), Rensselaer (903), Salem State (907), St. Lawrence (907), Bates (908), Western New England (917), Springfield (1919), Wesleyan (925), Roger Williams (945), and Rensselaer 'B' (965).

Eric Spoth shot a one-under 71 in the third competitive round of the tournament, posting a 35 on the front nine and a 36 on the back with birdies on number-6, number-10, and number-17 to go along with 14 pars. That gave Spoth a three-day score of 220, putting him a tie for 19th place in the tournament among the 99 golfers.

Although Spoth had the best score of the day, it was Tyler Yacawych who had the top placement for the Knights in the three-day tournament. Yacawych followed up his two 72s on Saturday with a two-over par 74 on Sunday. Yacawych notched a birdie on number-6 and number-18 in his third round, putting at 218 for the tournament and in a tie for 14th overall.

With a three-day score of 222, Luke Weisiger ended up in a tie for 26th place overall after he shot 74 on Sunday as well. Weisiger recorded a birdie on number-5 and number-12 for the day as he finished six over par for the tournament.

Brian Secor matched Spoth with three birdies in his Sunday round, scoring a 73 and ending the tournament at +12 with a score of 228, jumping nearly 30 spots on the leaderboard after the final round, placing him in a tie for 44th.

Ryan Makowski had his score dropped from the team scoring, going for 84 on the third day and ending up at +26 for a 242 in the tournament. He had birdies on number-3 and number-18, and tied for 84th. Playing as an individual, Aaron Walsh shot 82 on Sunday and was +34 (250) to put himself in 92nd. Walsh had birdies on the seventh and eighth holes.
