CU Golf Preview - at Castleton Invitational (9/21-22)

Just two days after competing in the Kangaroos Invitational down the road in Canton, NY, the Clarkson University Golf team heads back to Vermont for the second time in as many weekends, this time competing in the Castleton Invitational, held at the par-70 Rutland Country Club.

The Team: Clarkson's contingent heading back to the Green Mountain State for Saturday and Sunday are sophomores Ryan Makowski, Eric Spoth, and Joe Tiderencel as well as seniors Andrew Palmatier and Daniel Wilson. Although it is Makowski who leads the team in scoring average so far this year at 74.67, Spoth is coming off a day where he shot 67 while a hole-in-one at the Kangaroos Invitational. Spoth lowered his scoring average to 75.83 per 18 holes, second-lowest on the team. Makowski had six sub 80 rounds and has shot par or lower three times in six competitive rounds this fall. Both Palmatier and Wilson are averaging 78.50 strokes per 18, and Palmatier was one of the better performers at the Castleton Invitational a year ago when he shot 157 over 36 holes. Tiderencel's scoring average creeped above 80, as he is now at 80.16 strokes per 18.
