Oswego, NY – Senior Casey Ditzel and sophomore Andrew Palmatier of the Clarkson University Golf team each finished in the top dozen participants on Saturday as the Golden Knights sit in second place at the halfway point of the Oswego State Fall Golf Invitational, held at the par-71 Oswego Country Club.

The Golden Knights finished off the first round with a team score of 315, trailing Hamilton College, but ahead of both of Oswego's entrants, SUNY Delhi, SUNY Canton, Elmira, Hobart, Utica, Russell Sage, New Jersey City, and Nazareth.

Ditzel had an impressive front nine for his 77, but had trouble on the back, scoring birdies on second hole (par-3) as well as the eighth and ninth holes (both par-4). Palmatier was a bit more consistent with a 39 on the front and 38 on the back for a 77, picking up a birdie on the first hole, a par-five, and then a pair of par-fours on the back nine. Dale Turner was a couple strokes behind Clarkson's top two, shooting 79, recording 10 pars overall. Brant Bomberger scored 82, also notching 10 pars, and Zander Poole matched Bomberger with an 82 as well, picking up birdies on number-9 and number-17, both par-fours.

Clarkson will close out the two-day event tomorrow with tee times set to start at 11:00 am.
