Hayden In Top 10 on Day Two of FIS Race at Babson Invitational

Andover, NH – For the second straight day, Sam Hayden excelled on the slopes, leading the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team at the Babson Invitational, held Saturday afternoon at the Proctor Ski Area.

Hayden once again was in the top 10 among 83 participants, though his spot in the upper echelon wasn't assured until an impressive second run. After his first trip down the hill, he was 15th with a time of 42.44 seconds, but his second turn saw him trim his time to 42.03, tied for seventh among all participants, to close out the event with a time of 1:24.47.

Nearly all of Clarkson's skiers were in the top half of the field. Seniors Evan Wetzel and Nathan Briselden were 30th and 32nd, respectively, as Wetzel closed out in 1:30.41 thanks to his latter run being a full second faster than his first. Briselden was consistent enough to close out his two trips in 1:30.82. Freshman Josh Jusiak closed out his runs with a total time of 1:32.04 to take 37th and Dylan West ended up in 40th in 1:32.68. Zack Zientko placed 44th in 1:34.07.

On the women's side, junior Beth Fisher was the top performer, placing 42nd out of 77 skiers with a time of 1:48.27. She was followed closely by senior Taylor Hubert, who came in 45th with a time of 1:50.43. Shannon Quiles finished off the team score by coming in 53rd in 1:58.21, while Sara LoPresti ended up in 60th in 2:14.22.
