Clarkson Has Sights Set on ECAC Hockey Regular Season Title

CLASS of 2018 (l-r): Savannah Harmon, Katelyn Fournier, Shea Tiley, Amanda Titus, Lauren Lefler

Regular-season play wraps up this weekend with the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team looking to earn the fourth ECAC Hockey regular-season title in the program's 15-year history, and second in as many years. The Golden Knights, guided by 10th-year Head Coach Matt Desrosiers and Assistants Britni Smith and Tony Maci, are tied for first in the league standings, along with Colgate, owning a 17-3 conference mark. Clarkson would clinch at least a share of the ECAC Hockey title and earn the #1 seed for the upcoming league playoffs with four points this weekend at Cheel Arena.

The Green and Gold host Dartmouth at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and Harvard at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Defending NCAA Champions, Clarkson is ranked #2 in the national polls with a 27-4-1 overall record.  The Knights suffered their first loss of 2018 on Friday in New Jersey with a 2-0 setback at Princeton, snapping a 15-game win streak. Clarkson quickly regained its winning way with a 2-0 shutout at Quinnipiac on Saturday.

• Saturday's game against Harvard will see the Golden Knights honor their five-player senior class on Senior Day. Clarkson's Class of 2018 has led the Green and Gold to some of their most successful seasons during their four-year careers. Captain Savannah Harmon, assistant captains Lauren Lefler, Amanda Titus and Shea Tiley, and Katelyn Fournier have been a part of four 20-win seasons, two 30-win campaigns and 113 total victories entering the weekend. They have already clinched their fourth home-ice appearance in the ECAC Hockey playoffs as well as winning one ECAC Hockey Regular Season title, sharing a second title, and are in the driver's seat to win a third. With the seniors, the Golden Knights have won one ECAC Hockey Tournament title (2017), qualified for the NCAA Tournament in their first three seasons, and made Frozen Four appearances in 2016 and 2017. Clarkson won its second National Championship last season!
