Manness earns trio of awards at ECAC Ceremony

Last night the Clarkson Women's Hockey Program added to it's rich history in ECAC Awards with Sara Manness, Kate Manness, and Sena Catterall representing the Golden Knights on ECAC All Star teams and picking up some major awards.

For the second straight year and for the seventh time, a Clarkson player has been named the ECAC Player of the Year, as Sara Manness becomes the first 1st year player to win the Award.  Manness, was a force in her first season as a Golden Knight. She tallied 21 goals and 31 assists (leading the ECAC) for 52 points, as well as tallying four power play goals and her first career hat trick.

Sara Manness extended her point-scoring streak to 15 games (17 goals, 13 assists)  in the NCAA and became the first Clarkson player in program history to score a goal in 10 consecutive games in the course of one season, separating herself from Loren Gabel's nine-game run during the 2017-18 season.

Sara was also named the ECAC Forward of the Year and the ECAC Rookie of the Year, as well as being named as an ECAC First Team All Star.  Manness led the Knights in points (51), goals (21) and assists (30).  Her point totals were tops in the ECAC and 5th in the nation.  Sara was named the ECAC Rookie of the Month twice and was twice named the HCA National Rookie of the Month.

Kate Manness was named as a finalist for both the Defender of the Year & Rookie of the Year along with being named a First Team All ECAC member.  Kate led all Knights defenders in points with 32, which was good for third on the team for overall points.  Kate was named the ECAC Defender of the Month and the HCA Defender of the Month for January.  She was twice named the ECAC Defender of the Week and named the Rookie of the Week once.  Kate had a huge overtime game winning goal vs Colgate late in the season as the Knight were pushing for playoff positioning.  Her 35 blocked shots was 2nd on the team and her +14 rating was 2nd best among all defenders.

Sena Catterall was named to the All ECAC Third Team, Catterall was 2nd on the team in goals and points and remarkably Clarkson was 10-0 when Sena recorded 2 or more points.  Catterall was a top three finalist for the ECAC Scholar Athlete Award this season.
