Potsdam, NY – A big second period saw many of the usual suspects put up points along with some newcomers to the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team as the Golden Knights started off the 2026-27 campaign with a 7-0 exhibition victory over Bishops College on Saturday afternoon.

The victory over Bishops does not count for the regular season standings, and neither do the statistics accrued on Saturday. The season opens next weekend when the Golden Knights host RIT on Friday and Saturday.

The Golden Knights got off to a slow start in the first period, but the Green and Gold were able to leave the first period with a 1-0 lead. Abby Wallace won the puck along the boards on the right side and carried the puck into the zone before sending a pass into the slot for Gabrielle Lalonde. Though Lalonde's shot on goal was denied, Abby Richardson was there for the rebound near the crease to make it 1-0 at 16:38.

Clarkson put together a big second period with two goals separated by only 36 seconds and then added two more later in the frame. The first of the second-period goals came when Lalonde had the puck behind the goal line but had three Bishops players surrounding her. The puck leaked out in front to Wallace, who had all the time in the world to pick her spot, deciding to fake a backhand and using a forehand to lift the puck in at 4:06. Only 36 seconds later it was a flurry of shots that created an opportunity for the goal as Sara Manness knocked the puck in, with assists going to Kate Manness and Kennedy Sisson.

Near the midway point of the period, the Knights netted two more to build a 5-0 lead. The fourth goal came on a fine individual effort by Isabelle Goettl, as she stole the puck at the top of the slot and walked in for an unassisted goal at 9:15, going top shelf to make it 4-0. Clarkson then added a fifth goal with a 3-on-2 situation as Sara Manness had lots of space to work on the right side and sent a pass for Manon Le Scodan for an easy tip-in at 10:58.

The third period was quiet for the Knights until the final minutes of the game when Clarkson tacked on two insurance goals for good measure. The first came off the stick of Kenney Sisson, who was able to punch the puck in at 17:31 with assists going to Janelle Evans and Goettl. Only a minute later, Sisson started another play by passing the puck forward to Evans. Kate Manness and Evans worked a give-and-go, with Manness filling the lane in front of the crease to knock in the Knights' seventh score of the contest.

Clarkson finished with an 89-37 edge in shots attempts overall and a 47-19 lead in shots on goal in the contest.

Next up the Knights will host RIT on Friday Sept. 25th at 6:00 pm and then on Saturday Sept. 26th at 3:0 pm.
