Heading east for a second straight weekend, the Clarkson University Cross Country team will cross the state line this time around as it competes in the annual Aldrich Invitational, hosted by Middlebury College.

The Women: After a 5000-meter race to open the season at Plattsburgh, the Golden Knights will push the distance to the regular 6000 meters in Middlebury. A year ago, graduate student Gianna Capoccia had the top time for the Knights, but the next three runners were separated by less than eight total seconds. Janneke Baks finished the event in 26:41.6 and teammates Meagan Speitzer and Skylar Francis were only one-tenth of a second apart, with Speitzer getting the edge at 26:49.4. Francis's time was roughly nine seconds faster than her previous time in Middlebury.

The Men: Like the women, the Knights will have the distance lengthened on Saturday, going to the usual 8000 meters. Also similar to the women, some of the top performances were incredibly close, as Drew Reigelsperger finished seventh among 56 runners in 27:21.0, but was only one-tenth of a second faster than teammate Matthew Clarner. James Lynch and Frank Consolazio also posted times under 28 minutes and finished in the top 20 of the race. As a freshman, Consolazio was Clarkson's top competitor at the Aldrich Invitational when he took seventh among 61 runners in 27:38.4.
