Knights in Middle of Pack at Middlebury

Middlebury, VT - Seniors Drew Reigelsperger and Skylar Francis posted the top times for the Clarkson University Cross Country team as the Golden Knights competed against several NESCAC foes at the Aldrich Invitational, hosted by Middlebury College.

The Golden Knights' men finished fourth out of seven squads with 129 points, trailing Williams (21), Tufts (40), and Middlebury (81), but ahead or Saint Michael's (139), Endicott (179) and Paul Smith's (216). On the women's side, Clarkson was sixth out of seven complete teams with 193 points, ahead of Paul Smith's (211), but behind Williams (22), Middlebury (43), Tufts (67), Endicott (127), and Saint Michael's (139).

Reigelsperger was in solid form again after a win last week, finishing the 8000-meter run with a time of 26 minutes, 36.6 seconds, nearly 45 seconds faster than his time last year at the same course. That time was good enough for 17th among the 115 participants in the men's race. James Lynch was the next across the finish line for Clarkson, taking 38th in 27:37.1. Seventeen seconds later it was Matthew Clarner closing out the race, as he finished in 27:54.0 for 46th place. Jack Zieber followed in 51st for the Knights in 28:16.5 and Frank Consolazio capped Clarkson's team scoring by taking 54th overall in 28:34.0. Wyatt Worcester was next in 59th (28:45.7) and closely followed by Spencer Reese in 62nd (28:52.6).

On the women's side, the Knights lacked their usual depth and had just five runners in the race, putting them in a position where everyone's time counted for the score. Francis took 69th out of 90 runners with a time of 27:15.4 in the 6000-meter event. Janneke Baks crossed the line 21 seconds later in 27:36.1 for 72nd. Back-to-back finishers Meagan Speizer and Kelly Lahiff were 74th and 75th in 27:58.3 and 28:21.1, respetively. Clare Janas finished off the team scoring by placing 87th in 35:44.1.
