Knights Blank SLU 4-0 in First Meeting of 2026-27

Canton, NY – Jessie Pellerin scored twice and Janelle Evans added a goal and an assist as the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team picked up a 4-0 win over Route 11 rival St. Lawrence University on Kids Day at Appleton Arena.

The Golden Knights improved to 3-2 on the year and the Saints dropped to 1-4. The two teams will meet up once again on Friday evening at Cheel Arena.

In addition to the Knights' four goals, first-year collegian Kalia Pharand had a season-best 26 saves in her third start of the year, recording her first collegiate shutout.

Each team had breakaway chances in the opening minutes but neither was able to capitalize on the opportunities. Kassidy Sisson was denied on a backhand just 1:15 into the opening period and Manon Le Scodan had a soft backhand stopped 3:38 into the contest. At the other end, Barbora Jurickova accepted a pass to create a breakaway for the Saints, but Kalia Pharand got enough of the forehand shot to chip it aside a little over five minutes in.

Clarkson went on the power play twice in the opening period and found the back of the net on its second try in the final minute of the first frame. Janelle Evans was on the left circle trying to locate Le Scodan on the doorstep just outside the crease, but Evans was credited with the goal when the puck never made it to her teammate. Instead, it ricocheted off the skate of a SLU defender and beyond the pad of St. Lawrence goaltender Kassidy Lawrence at 19:24.

In the middle of the second period, St. Lawrence had a chance on the power play, but remained scoreless on the season in that situation as both of the shots on goal were denied by Pharand. Clarkson took advantage of its penalty kill and picked up a key score late in the period. Once again aided by the Saints, Jessie Pellerin was credited with the goal following a scrum in front that included Pellerin, Sydney Lamb, and Le Scodan as the puck was knocked in when a SLU defender pushed the puck in the wrong direction with her stick, sliding it past Lawrence at 17:22.

Clarkson got its cleanest goal of the contest early on in the third period, breaking out from its own defensive end with a 3-on-2 transition chance. Janelle Evans skated on the right side and made a simple pass into the slot for Le Scodan, who wristed her attempt from up high, going top shelf above the glove of Lawrence only 50 seconds into the third.

The Knights were whistled for an infraction a few minutes later, but again Clarkson's penalty kill played well, allowing just one shot on goal and a couple of blocked shots, keeping the Saints off the board. Clarkson tacked on one final goal in the final two minutes when the Knights forced a SLU turnover in the neutral zone. Jessie Pellerin picked up the loose puck and from just beyond the blue line, sent a wrister into the vacated goal for a 4-0 advantage.

Clarkson finished the game with a 36-26 lead in shots on goal and a 60-47 advantage in total shots. Clarkson was 1-for-2 on the power play and the Saints were scoreless on their two extra skater chances. Pharand made 26 saves for the Knights and Lawrence had 32 denials for SLU.
