A long road trip awaits the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team as the Golden Knights head to Maine for the UMF Invitational.

The Races: For the first time this year, the field will participate in a sprint, taking place on Saturday afternoon/evening. There have been sprint relays, but this will be the first individual sprint that takes place in the ECSC since 2024 (there was a Classic Individual Sprint at the USCSA National Championships last March). Sunday's event will be a 10K Classic with a mass start.

The Team: Sophomore Matthew Clarner reached the USCSA National Championship Classic Sprint Quarterfinals last year, ending up in 28th place out of 79 skiers. Both Torsten Brickley (54th) and Adam Jansen (58th) were in the opening heats of the USCSA Nationals a year ago. On the women's side, Skylar Francis just missed out on the quarterfinals round at the USCSA Nationals, placing 38th out of 57 skiers. The ECSC has also not participated in any 10K Classic events this year, though the 10K distance has been utilized on a few occasions this winter in Skiathlon and Skate formats. Clarner was first in the 10K Skate and also took third in the 10K Skiathlon this year. Francis was third in the 10K Skate last weekend as well.
