Clarner and Francis Lead Knights at UMF Day Two

Farmington, ME – Four skiers from the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team populated the top-seven of the men's leaderboard as the Golden Knights closed out the UMF Invitational at Titcomb Mountain on Sunday.

In a field of 40 competitors on the men's side, Matthew Clarner nearly repeated his win from Saturday but had to settle for the runner-up spot in the 10K Classic with a time of 33 minutes, 11.5 seconds, just 3.4 seconds off the pace of a skier from Bowdoin. Clarkson then had three more skiers cross the line consecutively in the five through seven slots, with Torsten Brickley taking fifth (34:53.6), Silas Bartol placing sixth (35:33.2), and Adam Jansen claiming the seventh spot (35:34.2). Five more Clarkson skiers were in the top 20, including Oliver Dolcino (14th, 36:59.4), Nathaniel Burke (15th, 37:03.2), Dillon Frank (17th, 37:54.4), Braydon Patch (18th, 38:11.5), and Alexander Evans (20th, 39:00.0).

For the second straight day, the women's field was larger than the men's, this time filled with 51 competitors. Skylar Francis was the top Clarkson skier on Sunday, finishing in ninth place with a time of 43:55.9. Janneke Baks was next for the Knights, taking 35th in 59:44.1, and Clare Janas came in 42nd in 1:06:16.8.
