Clarner Wins Sprint Event in Maine

Farmington, ME – Sophomore Matthew Clarner and junior Skylar Francis led the way for the Clarkson University Nordic Ski team as the Golden Knights competed at the UMF Invitational, held at Titcomb Mountain.

Clarner paced the field of 35 skiers in the first individual sprint during the regular season since 2024, finishing the race in 2:53.0, nearly six seconds faster than any other competitor in the field. Adam Jansen was fourth for the Knights in 3:07.0 and Torsten Brickley closed out Clarkson's team scoring by taking the sixth spot in 3:08.5.

Clarkson's men had plenty of other skiers in the top 15, placing five more besides the first three in that grouping. Oliver Dolcino took eighth (3:10.1), Braydon Patch came in 10th (3:12.1), Nathaniel Burke was one spot lower in 11th (3:13.3), Dillon Frank claimed 13th (3:16.8), and Silas Bartol was 15th (3:17.4). Brady Krenzer (17th, 3:20.7), Alexander Evans (19th, 3:24.8), and Anthony Cauley (26th, 3:41.4) closed out Clarkson's entries in the field.

The women's field was significantly larger than the men's group as the starters numbered 58 skiers. Skylar Francis was Clarkson's top performer, placing inside the top 10 in the ninth spot with a time of 3:53.6. Further down the list is Janneke Baks took 37th in 5:01.7 and Clare Janas finished 47th in 5:48.6.
