Yacawych Top Score for Sunday as Knights Close out Farmingdale Tournament

Farmingdale, NY – Andrew Palmatier followed up his two-over par effort on Saturday with a 75 on Sunday to lead the Clarkson University Golf team at the Farmingdale State Spring Golf Invitational, held at the par-70, 7092-yard Bethpage Golf Course.

The Golden Knights ended up in 14th place out of 16 teams in the field with 603 strokes, finishing 20 over on Saturday and then 23 over on Sunday. The Golden Knights will spend next weekend at Turning Stone where the team competes in the annual Liberty League Championships.

Palmatier finished the day with a 75, scoring a 36 on the front and 39 on the back, picking up a birdie on the fifth hole, a 528-yard par-five, and also a birdie on the eighth hole, a 418-yard par-four, to go along with nine pars. His two-day score of 147 ended up as a tie for 28th in the field of 88 golfers.  

The rest of Clarkson's group finished the tournament in a tie for 63rd as each golfer found their on way to that two-day score. Tyler Yacawych was the top performer for the Knights on Sunday, shooting a 74, which included 12 pars and a birdie on number-18. Eric Spoth and Ryan Makowski each shot 77 for the second straight day to get to 154. Spoth had seven pars and a pair of birdies, while Makowski had 12 pars and one birdie on the back nine. Joe Tiderencel scored 80 on Sunday, picking up 10 pars.
