Spoth and Yacawych Go One-Over on Day Two of Tim Brown Invite

Ballston Spa, NY – Despite trimming five strokes off its score from the first day of the tournament, the Clarkson University Golf team fell two spots in the standings to finish in a tie for 14th at the Tim Brown Invitational, hosted by Skidmore College at the par-71 Ballston Spa Country Club.

The Golden Knights shot 303 on the first day of the tournament and then struck for 298 on day to finish with 601 total strokes, tying for 14th among 20 teams in the tournament.

Sophomore Eric Spoth was even on the front nine and one-over on the back, shooting 72 on the second day to finish at 146, good enough for a tie for 24th place in the field of 108 competitors. Spoth recorded five birdies in his round, as well as eight pars. He produced birdies on the fifth, eighth, and ninth holes on the front and then had birdies on the 11th and 13th holes.

Freshman Tyler Yacawych matched Spoth on Sunday, scoring a 72 as well. Yacawych notched 13 pars and also had two birdies, going one-under on the par-five eighth hole as well as the long par-four 14th hole. Yacawych ended up in a tie for 29th in the field, score 147.

Andrew Palmatier was next for the Knights, scoring 76 on Sunday and ending up with a 153, tying for 64th. Palmatier had a solid run in the middle of the round, scoring birdies on three of four holes near the turn, going one-under on the seventh, ninth, and number-10.

Both Ryan Makowski and Daniel Wilson ended up with a 156 for the tournament, but it was Makowski's score on Sunday which was included in the team's tally. Makowski shot 78 for the second straight day, recording birdies on three of four holes, including one on the front and then back-to-back birdies on the 10th and 11th holes. Wilson was two strokes short of his first day score, picking up a 79 on day two, going for bird on the par-five 10th hole.
