Spoth Takes Second at Oswego Fall Golf Invite

Oswego, NY – Slipping a bit on Sunday, the Clarkson University Golf team ended up in the middle of the field of nine teams to close out the Oswego Fall Golf Invitational, held at the par-71 Oswego Country Club.

The Golden Knights finished fifth among the nine teams, 12 strokes off the pace, with a score of 614, trailing Hobart (602), Oswego State 'A' (608), Nazareth (610), Utica 'A' (613) but ahead of Oswego State 'B' (632), Utica 'B' (660, SUNY Canton (707), and SUNY ESF (707).

Eric Spoth finished in a four-way tie for second place out of 47 golfers with a score of 147, just one stroke off the pace. Spoth was four-over par on the second day with a 75. Spoth scored 37 on the front and 38 on the back, notching birdies on the fourth, sixth, and 14th holes.

Daniel Wilson carded a two-over 73 on the second day to end up with a score of 151 for a tie in eighth place, jumping 10 spots from the first day's leader board. Wilson scored 36 on the front and 37 on the back, though both of his birdies came on the back-nine, doing so on the 10th hole and 14th hole.

Ryan Makowski closed out the tournament with a score of 157, shooting 81 on the second day of the tournament, to tie for 20th in the field. Makowski scored well on the front nine with a 33, recording birdies on number-one, number-two, number-five, and number-eight, but had his troubles on the back with a score of 48.

Brant Bomberger totaled 83 on the second day to finish with a 160 over two days, tying for 24th in the field. He had birdies on the first, third, and fourth holes, scoring a 35 on the front nine, but shot 48 on the back.

Jace Dutch scored 82 on the second day and was the fourth score included for the Knights on Sunday after being dropped on Saturday. He ended up with a 163, tying for 27th place. Dutch had a birdie on both the front and back nines, scoring one on the seventh hole as well as number-10.
