Makowski Top Golfer for Clarkson on Day One at Duke Nelson Invitational

Middlebury, VT – On an unseasonably warm day, the Clarkson University Golf team was led by sophomore Ryan Makowski's 77 in the first round of the annual Duke Nelson Invitational, hosted by Middlebury College, at the par-71 Ralph Myhre Golf Course.

Through the first 18 holes of the two-day tournament, the Golden Knights were plus-36 with a team score of 320, putting them in a tie for 18th place among 23 teams in the tournament.

Ryan Makowski finished six-over par for the day with a 77, tying for 38th in the field of 120 golfers. Only Joe Tiderencel joined Makowski in the top half of participants after 18 holes, tying for 59th place with a score of 79. Daniel Wilson was next for the Knights, tying for 77th with an 81 and Eric Spoth closed out Clarkson's team scoring for the day with an 83, which put him in a tie for 97th. Tyler Yacawych finished with an 85 putting him in a tie for 105th at the midway point.
