Saratoga Springs, NY – At what was thought to be the midway point of the final tournament of the fall, the Clarkson University Golf team found itself in the top half of programs, as the team shot 311 overall on the first day of the Skidmore Golf Invitational, held at the par-72, 7145-yard Saratoga Spa State Park Golf Course. The second day of the tournament was washed out by rain.

The Golden Knights ended up in ninth of the 21 competing squads in the tournament.

Through the first 18 holes, freshman Tyler Yacawych ended up in a tie for eighth among the 120 total golfers with a score of 75, having shot 35 on the front nine and 40 on the back. He had 11 pars overall on the day and also posted two birdies on the front nine, scoring a four on the par-five, 493-yard third hole and also a two on the par-three, 180-yard eighth hole.

Both in a tie for 28th, Daniel Wilson and Ryan Makowski each shot 77 on the first day. Wilson went for 38 on the front nine and 39 on the back for a 77, also scoring a birdie on the third hole and later getting a birdie on the sixth hole, a long par-five that extended 550 yards. Makowski scored 40 on the front and 37 on the back with 10 pars, also scoring a birdie on the third hole. Makowski picked up a birdie on the 18th hole, too, going one-under on the 450-yard par-four.

Inside the top 100 for the Knights were Eric Spoth and Joe Tiderencel. Spoth, tied for 74th, scored 82, picking up two birdies on the front nine, going one-under on the par-three, 218-yard second hole and again on the par-four, 447-yard number-seven. Tiderencel, whose score was dropped from the team scoring, was the fourth member of the team to go for birdie on number-three, finishing with an 84. He finished in a tie for 91st.
