Leonard and Tasselmyer Shine in Dual Meet Defeat at Skidmore

Saratoga Springs, NY - First-year collegians Aurelia Leonard and Connor Tasselmyer stood out for the Clarkson University Swimming & Diving team on Saturday as the Golden Knights dropped a dual meet Saturday afternoon at Skidmore College.

The two scores were almost identical, as the Golden Knights' men fell 141-96 and the Clarkson women were on the short end of a 142-95 decision. Clarkson will compete in another dual meet next Saturday at Oswego State.

Aurelia Leonard was the lone Clarkson swimmer to win multiple events on Saturday, as she took the 50 freestyle in 26.37 seconds and later won teh 200 backstroke with a time of 2:17.10. The only other female swimmer to take first was sophomore Gabriela McSwieney, who won the 1000 freestyle in 11:25.04. Clarkson's women also won the 400 freestyle, as the group of Bella Triolet, Ava Lamontagne, McSwieney, and Leonard finished the event in 3:50.75. 

On the men's side, Tasselmyer came up just shy of winning both of the short freestyle races. He did take the top spot in the 50 freestyle in 22.11 seconds and was second in the 100 freestyle in 48.61 seconds, just .04 off the pace set by a Skidmore swimmer. Classmate Landon Colby also picked up a first-place finish in the 200 butterfly, taking the event in 2:07.79. The Golden Knights closed out the day with a win in the 400 freestyle relay, with the foursome of Jared Enser, Tim Jordan, Finn Halstead, and Tasselmyer combined for a time of 3:20.88.
