Ithaca, NY – Two more individual program records fell for the Clarkson University Swimming & Diving program thanks to Evan Paneras and Owen White as the Golden Knights continued to excel at the 2026 Liberty League Championships, hosted by Ithaca College.

The Golden Knights' men slipped to fourth place through 18 events with 458.5 points, but are still in a fight with Rensselaer for the third spot (467), while Clarkson's women are seventh with 168 points.

2026 Liberty League Swimming & Diving Championships - Day Two

The day opened with the 200 freestyle and four of the Clarkson men participated in the evening festivities. Gavin Stuhler ended up in 11th place ('B' finals) with a time of 1:43.47, roughly a second off the decades old record for the Golden Knights. Three Clarkson swimmers were in the 'C' finals, led by Daniel Killian in 18th place with a time of 1:45.26. Colin Cordy followed in 20th in 1:46.52 and Aiden Spoors took 24th in 1:48.18, each earning points towards Clarkson's team total. Just outside of the finals were Andrew Sypko, who came in 25th (1:49.62) and Evan Wash in 36th (1:58.62).

For the women, two swimmers participated in the 200 freestyle 'C' finals. Natasha Hurff was 18th in the prelims and repeated that finish in the finals with a time of 2:01.48. Likewise, Kirsten Iles ended up in 20th, taking the same spot as the prelims, ending up with a time of 2:03.16. Just missing out on the second session on Thursday were Abigail Szyprowski, who came in 28th in 2:09.96, and Emma Canale, who placed 29th with a time of 2:10.73.

The most impressive display of the day came in the 100 butterfly for the men, as both Evan Paneras and Landon Colby participated in the 'A' finals. Paneras broke his own school record in the prelims with a time of 49.86 and then shattered that mark with a time of 49.13 in the finals, placing third. Colby became the second Clarkson swimmer this year to top a 29-year-old mark set by recently inducted Clarkson Athletic Hall of Famer Charlie Weisman, as Colby bested Weisman's mark of 50.60 seconds with a time of 50.41 in the prelims and then again topped the mark with 50.13 seconds in the finals, good enough for fifth place. Also in the butterfly finals, Mason Cartier placed 16th in 54.59 in the 'B' race, while Jacob Ducey (19th, 54.69) and Colin Losinger (20th, 54.90) earned points in the 'C' race.

For the women, none of the swimmers participated in the second session, though Dani McDonald did qualify with a 24th place finish with a time of 1:03.50. Katelyn Otis was 28th (1:05.09) and Addie Gorton took 30th (1:05.21) in the preliminary morning qualifiers.

Another race and another record was broken for Owen White, as he cleared his own school record in the 400 individual medley by more than five seconds, leading the entire field with a time of 4:06.68 in the preliminary rounds. He shaved another .35 seconds off the mark with a time of 4:06.33 during the 'A' finals, but had to settle for another second-place finish despite the faster time. Matthew Sitarek participated in the 'B' finals and ended up 16th overall with a time of 4:20.50, and James Fedele swam in the 'C' finals, going for 4:37.98, good enough for 19th overall.

On the women's side, Aurora Zary placed 15th in the 'B' finals with a time of 4:58.79, about two seconds slower than her preliminary time that had her in 14th place. Paige Davis also slipped one spot in the 'C' finals, going from 21st in the prelims to 22nd in the finals, though her time was nearly two seconds quicker in the evening session.

Neither of Clarkson's divers made it to the finals, but Evelyn Vieira did just nip her own previous program standard with a score of 351.20, less than a point higher than her performance a year ago at the championships, and placing her 14th in the preliminaries. Devon Sedlack ended up in 20th with 259.55 points.

Ending the day, Clarkson's 200 freestyle relay group of Mason Cartier, Casey Everett, Sean Finnerty, and Andrew Sypko combined for a time of 1:27.40, good enough for sixth, while the Golden Knights' women connection of Addie Gorton, Abigail Szyprowski, Dani McDonald, and Paige Davis took ninth in 1:44.86.
