Knights Dominate in Freestyle Events as Clarkson Splits Dual Meet with St. Lawrence

Canton, NY – For the second time in less than seven days, the Clarkson University Swimming and Diving program headed down Route 11 to take on St. Lawrence University, and for the second time in the week the two teams split the dual meet, as the Golden Knights' men won 179-38 while the women were on the short-end of a 135-95 decision.

Clarkson returns to action tomorrow with a slightly longer road trip, as the squad heads to Saratoga Springs to face Skidmore College.

The Golden Knights' men won both of the relays, as Aiden Howard, Colin Urmaza, Michael Schroeder, and Jared Enser combined for a time of 1:43.47 in the 200 medley relay, while the group of Howard, Enser, Tim Jordan, and Connor Tasselmyer closed out the meet with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:30.75.

Four Clarkson men posted multiple wins as Tasselmyer was the top swimmer in both short freestyle events, winning the 50 freestyle (21.96 seconds) and 100 freestyle (49.37), while Tristan Miranda won both of the long freestyle races, taking the 1000 freestyle in 10:42.22 and the 500 freestyle in 5:06.79. Michael Schroeder also picked up victories in both the 200 freestyle (1:54.51) and the 100 butterfly (55.63) and Max Lempert won both diving events, taking the 1-meter with 157.15 points and the 3-meter with 156.00 points. Landon Colby (200 individual medley, 2:08.75), Colin Urmaza (100 breaststroke, 1:03.22), and Aiden Howard (100 backstroke, 58.12) also won individual events.

On the women's side, Paige Cutler won both of the diving events, taking the 1-meter with a score of 163.57 and the 3-meter with 167.10 points. Bella Triolet and Aurelia Leonard were the lone individual event winners for the Knights in the races, with Triolet taking the 100 butterfly (1:05.54) and Leonard hitting the pads first in the 100 backstroke (1:01.92).
