Fronczak and Triolet Highlight Day One of Rochester Invitational

Webster, NY – Junior Paige Fronczak and freshman Bella Triolet finished in the top three of the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, respectively, for the Clarkson University Swimming & Diving team as the Golden Knights finished off the first two sessions of the University of Rochester Invitational, held Thursday at the Webster Aquatic Center.

The Golden Knights and the other four teams competing in the invitational will close things out on Sunday with the final two sessions beginning at 1:00 pm. At the halfway point, the Clarkson Women are third of five teams with 281 points while the Golden Knights' men are fourth out of five teams with 220 points.

Fronczak nearly had a pair of top three finishes on Thursday, taking third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:59.98, and also coming in fourth in the 50 freestyle in 25.11 seconds. Triolet was third in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.16, four spots ahead of teammate Taylor Lee, who took seventh with a time of 1:02.37. Sophomore Maddie Nowicki also had a pair of top six placements, coming in sixth in the opening event of the invitational, the 500 freestyle, with a time of 5:31.83. She later took fourth in the 400 individual medley in 4:52.76. Mary-Anne Eastman also came in eighth in the 200 freestyle (2:04.11) and ninth in the 50 freestyle (25.64) and Amelia Kanner was seventh in the 200 individual medley (2:19.39).

For the men, freshman Guillermo Barrios had the best finish of the day, taking fifth in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:39.22. He also was ninth earlier in the day in the 200 individual medley, racing to a 2:06.42 time. Junior Nicholas Miller had a pair of top 10 showings in the freestyle events, coming in eighth in the 50 freestyle (22.34) and 10th in the 200 freestyle (1:49.52). Angus McLean also came in 10th in the 500 freestyle, finishing in 5:06.70.
