Box Score
Plattsburgh, NY – The final two shots of Tuesday evening's contest resulted in goals as the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team found itself on the wrong side of a 2-1 decision against Plattsburgh State in non-league action.

The Golden Knights saw their record fall to 4-7-2 overall while Plattsburgh moved to 10-3-2. Clarkson will play three more road games to close out the regular season, beginning with Union College on Saturday.

Trailing by a goal late in the second half, Clarkson picked up the equalizer in the 81st minute, but a late rush by the Cardinals saw the home team take the lead in the 89th minute as Plattsburgh came away with the win.

It took some time for either team to muster any true scoring chances, but the Cardinals had a few decent opportunities midway through the first half. About 19 minutes in, Emily Frodyma missed just high and later on in the first period, another shot hit the side of the netting as the angle was cut down by Clarkson goalkeeper Molly DiCaprio.

Plattsburgh broke through in the waning moments of the half. The Cardinals put pressure on the Knights with some crosses in close, but it was a soft shot that found its way through the Clarkson defense. Whether DiCaprio was screened by her own defenders or the ball was tipped, a shot by Frodyma from about 10 yards out on the left side of the net was able to trickle past the Clarkson defense at the 39:00 mark.

The second half saw Plattsburgh continue to produce offense, but the best chance for either team came for the Knights in the 77th minute. Chloe Hodge got in tight near the left post, but her shot was just tipped aside by Plattsburgh keeper Julia Ennis. A few minutes later, the Knights knotted the game up at 1-1, as the ball was stolen near midfield by Clarkson and a quick through ball found Chloe Hodge near the top of the penalty box. Hodge then dribbled in against a few Plattsburgh defenders and took a hard shot with her right foot to the opposite post from about 12 yards out to tie the contest at 80:14.

The tie, however, would be short-lived, as Plattsburgh was able to score with less than two minutes remaining in regulation. After regaining possession near the center field line, Nora Fitzgerald carried the ball forward through a few Clarkson defenders and maintained her hold on the ball to the top of the penalty box. As more Golden Knights converged, Fitzgerald sent a short through pass to Kirsten Villemaire, and Villemaire was able to chip a quick grounder past Clarkson goalkeeper Elise Almgren with just 1:37 left on the clock.

Plattsburgh finished with a 19-7 edge in shots, including an 8-4 lead in shots on goal. Corner kick chances were rare for both teams, with Plattsburgh getting three opportunities to Clarkson's one. Molly DiCaprio made two saves in the first half for the Knights and Elise Almgren stopped four shots in the second half. Plattsburgh's Julia Ennis denied three shots.
