Aird, Isaksen and Reusch Repeat as Liberty League Volleyball All-Stars

Thanks to another 20-win season and an NCAA Tournament appearance, the Clarkson University Volleyball team saw three of its student-athletes earn Liberty League All-Star nods when the conference announced its end of the year award winners on Wednesday morning.

Senior Rachael Aird and sophomore Kate Isaksen were each selected to the Liberty League First-Team, while sophomore Rachel Reusch gained Liberty League Second-Team honors.

Aird, now a three-time Liberty League All-Star, was chosen to the first team for the second straight year. The senior middle hitter scored 3.04 kills per set with a .302 hitting percentage, both figures that ranked among the conference leaders. Her 0.78 blocks per set ranked second in the league, but her 27 solo efforts are tied with teammate Rachel Reusch for the most in the conference. Aird, the Liberty League Tournament's Most Valuable Player for the second straight year, also showed her merit during the conference playoffs with 29 kills and only three errors in 48 swings over the weekend.

Isaksen elevated her already impressive feats from a year ago to gain Liberty League First-Team honors for the first time. The sophomore libero easily led the conference in digs with 6.71 per set, and that figure currently is the top mark in all of Division III as well. She recorded 30 or more digs in a match 11 times in 2017, including five times against regionally-ranked opponents. Isaksen also chipped in 35 service aces, the second most for the Golden Knights this year.

Isaksen's classmate Rachel Reusch was chosen to the Liberty League Second-Team after gaining Liberty League First-Team honors as a freshman in 2016. Reusch's numbers were just as good in her second season, however, as she improved her kills per set rate to 2.55 and digs rate to 0.92 per set. She ranked second in the Liberty League in hitting percentage at .306 while her blocks per set (0.68) ranked sixth in the conference. She, too, is tied for the league lead in solo blocks with teammate Rachael Aird.
