Canton, NY - Three hitters for the Clarkson University Volleyball team registered double-digit kills before the fourth set even started as the Golden Knights' offense hummed along in a 3-1 win (23-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-18) over St. Lawrence University Friday night at Burkman Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights won their ninth consecutive match overall and second in league to improve to 12-2 overall and 2-0 in the Liberty League, while the Saints dipped below .500 at 6-7 and 0-1. Clarkson faces William Smith College on its home court on Saturday afternoon.

The opening set saw the Golden Knights utilize some early miscues by the Saints and combined a strong offense to build an early 17-11 lead, holding the Saints to an even hitting percentage (4-4-17) up to that point. However, coming out of a timeout, the Saints found what they needed and hit .500 the rest of the way (9-0-18), tying the game at 17-17 and taking the lead at 21-20 off of back-to-back kills from Niayah Reece. St. Lawrence followed with the next two points and never relinquished its advantage, winning 25-23.

Clarkson built a similar lead (13-7) and saw the Saints call another timeout in the second set, but the Knights would not allow SLU to build any momentum, finding the offense it needed each time to stymie any significant runs. Chase Chudoba and Jordyn Leader each delivered timely kills to hold off the Saints and then two unforced errors by SLU ended the game in favor of the Knights, 25-19.

Set three opened with Clarkson leading 5-1 thanks to aces from Izzie Piano and Emma Cortez, but the Saints rallied to get back into the contest, eventually taking the lead 12-10, utilizing some errors by the Knights. Clarkson found another groove, though, recording six of the next seven points with three kills from Ainslie Reimer and two more from Chase Chudoba. More offense from the Knights pushed the gap to six points (20-14) including a block by Chudoba and Brianna Hale that forced SLU to take another timeout. St. Lawrence would draw back to within four (21-17), but Conley Burns responded with back-to-back kills, and the Knights won with the final four points of the set.

In the fourth set, Clarkson scored the first point, but after that trailed all the way to the midpoint of the set when the team was able to tie the game on a Chase Chudoba kill and go ahead on an attack error by the Saints, forcing SLU to call for a timeout. Out of the break, the Knights maintained the momentum with back-to-back kills from Amelia Bartfalvi and Ainslie Reimer as Clarkson continued its 7-0 run. The Saints came back thanks to three unforced errors by the Knights, but a roll shot to the back row's opposite corner by Bartfalvi ended the streak. Two more kills from Chudoba forced another SLU timeout, but Emma Cortez came out with consecutive aces to all but put the match away.

Both Conley Burns and Chase Chudoba each recorded 14 kills for the Knights, while Ainslie Reimer chipped in 11 kills and Bartfalvi added nine kills. Brianna Hale had 38 assists and 14 digs, Emma Cortez added 10 digs and four aces, and Olivia Baxter delivered 22 digs.

Naiyah Reece led the way with 12 kills for the Saints and Cassady Smith had 17 digs and three aces.
