Knights Take to The Road for New England Trip

Rebounding nicely from its first loss in 25 games, Clarkson University Women's Hockey will look to carry over the momentum from Saturday's big win over Cornell as it takes to the road for ECAC Hockey play this weekend in New England. The Golden Knights, guided by 10th-year head coach Matt Desrosiers and assistants Britni Smith and Tony Maci, play at Yale in New Haven, CT on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and then take on Brown in Providence, RI on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Clarkson suffered its first loss since January 21, a 4-3 overtime setback to fifth-ranked Colgate at Cheel Arena last Friday, but came back on Saturday with a resounding 6-0 rout of the 9th-ranked Big Red. Ranked third in the national polls, the Knights stand at 8-1-1 overall and 1-1-0 in ECAC Hockey play.

•    It was all Green and Gold for ECAC Women's Hockey's October All-star Awards with three Clarkson standouts earning the honors. The Golden Knights' freshman sensation Elizabeth Giguere was chosen as ECAC Hockey's Rookie of the Month, Senior Shea Tiley was voted Goaltender of the Month and junior Loren Gabel was named Player of the Month.
•    The leading goal scorer in ECAC Hockey and second overall in points, Gabel has tallied nine goals and eight assists for 17 points. The left wing from Kitchener, ONT recorded at least one point in nine of the first 10 games, including seven multiple-point outings, and tops in conference in plus/minus at +13. Gabel also earned ECAC Hockey Player of the Week honors for the second time this season after scoring four goals and five points over the weekend. She enjoyed a three-point day (2-1) in Clarkson's 6-0 victory on Saturday over 9th-ranked Cornell at Cheel Arena. 
•    Coming off a strong junior season, highlighted by her stellar performance in last year's postseason championship run, Tiley looks to be better than ever in her final collegiate campaign. Tiley posted the best winning percentage in the conference at .850% on an 8-1-1 record and shares the Division I lead in shutouts with 4.  She is one shutout shy of tying the school career record of 29, held by Erica Howe '14. The Owen Sound, ONT native owns best goals against average in ECAC Hockey at 1.29 to go along with a .938 save percentage. Tiley has been voted conference Goaltender of the Week twice.
•    A right wing from Quebec City, QUE, Giguere has made a huge impression in her collegiate debut. The leading offensive player in ECAC Hockey with 18 points, including a league-high 11 assists, Giguere has recorded at least one point in each of the first 10 games and is second in the league in plus/minus at +11. She has posted four multiple-point outings and matched the Clarkson record for assists in a game with four in the Knights' 6-1 victory over St. Lawrence (10/21). Giguere has been named three times as conference Rookie of the Week and voted once as the league's Player of the Week.
•    The Knights' power play is the best in Division I, clicking at 30.6% (11-36). Clarkson has connected for eight goals in its last 20 man-advantage opportunities (40%) over the past four games. Seven Knights have scored on the power play, led by Elizabeth Giguere's three goals.
•    Clarkson's penalty kill is rated 11th in the nation at 88% (44-50).  Senior assistant captain Amanda Titus scored the Knights' first shorthanded goal of the season in Saturday's big win over Cornell.
•    Clarkson, backstopped by Shea Tiley, boasts the third-best scoring defense in the nation, allowing only 1.30 goals per game. The Knights already have four shutouts in 10 games. Clarkson posted six shuouts in 41 games of their 2016-17 championship season.
•    The Knights' offense is ranked 7th in the NCAA, averaging 3.60 goals per game.

Scouting Yale and Brown 
Yale, which opened the season with four straight road games, is 1-2-1 and 0-1-1 in ECAC Hockey action. The Bulldogs gained one point in conference play over the weekend in NY's Capital District, tying RPI 1-1 in Troy on Friday before losing 3-1 to Union in Schenectady on Saturday. Yale has only been outscored 8-7 on the year

Brown, which host St. Lawrence on Friday, is looking for its first win of the season. The Bears are 0-4-0 after losses at union (6-3) and RPI (4-1) over the weekend. Brown has been outscored 24-6 this season.

The Series:
The Knights have won four straight over Yale and lead the series 19-6-1. Clarkson won 4-1 in New Haven and 4-2 in Potsdam last year. The Bulldogs last win over the Green and Gold was a 3-2 triumph at Cheel on January 30, 2015.
Clarkson is unbeaten in its last 20 games against Brown (18-0-2) and leads the all-time series 20-4-3. The Knights posted a pair of 8-1 victories over the Bears last season. Brown's last win in the series was a 1-0 victory in Providence on January 12, 2007. Cassidy Vinkle has a team-high eight goals and nine points against the Bears. Shea Tiley posts a 0.29 goals against average and a .982 save percentage in the series to go along with three shutouts.
