Sophomore catcher Emily Bulone and freshman outfielder Ryleigh Fontana of the Clarkson University Softball team were rewarded for their standout seasons when the Liberty League announced its end-of-year awards and all-stars on Tuesday.
Both players were chosen as Liberty League Second-Team All-Stars, with Bulone receiving her second all-star nod in as many seasons for the Golden Knights.
Bulone narrowly won the team title for batting average with a .374 average among qualified hitters, ripping a team-best 37 hits with 12 going for extra bases, including 11 doubles and one triple. Her OPS of .922 ranked second on the team thanks to a .505 slugging percentage.
Fontana was just edged by Bulone in batting average, hitting .373 in her first season with the Knights. She scored a team-best 18 runs and swiped fives bases while playing a strong right field. Fontana slugged .482 with five extra-base hits, doubling twice, tripling twice, and hitting one home run.
