The rains were lighter than expected this past week, allowing the Clarkson University Softball team to open up its home portion of 2026 right on time as the team hosts St. Lawrence University in a doubleheader on Saturday.

The Series: Since the Green and Gold began their program in 2014, Clarkson is 17-9 all-time against St. Lawrence. Despite that large lead, most of the recent doubleheaders have come away has splits, including five of the last six, with only Clarkson getting a sweep in 2023.

Key Stats for Clarkson (2-13): Many of the Golden Knights' issues in the early going are self-imposed, as they give their opponents extra chances with a .910 fielding percentage and 34 errors. On the other end, the Clarkson opposition is fielding a sterling .958 with less than half the miscues. Clarkson needs to take advance of its chances with its high OBP players. Emily Bulone (.432), Kendall Cuyler (.417), and Isabel Haspil (.404) each top .400 for OBP with the latter two players doing so with sharp eyes at the plate.

Key Stats for St. Lawrence (5-7): Marleigh Monroe had a solid season in her first collegiate campaign at St. Lawrence in 2025 with 67 strikeouts in 94.2 innings and a 4.18 earned run average. The returns are better through 12 games this year, as the sophomore has a 2.36 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 23 strikeouts in 35.2 innings. She has pitched nearly half of the team's 75.1 innings. Allison Kloft is batting .410/.455/.564 with 11 runs batted in over the course of 44 plate appearances. Emily Wendt (.345/.441/.448) and Maeve Thompson (.333/.381/.462) also are off to strong starts for the Saints.
