With a somewhat favorable weather forecast on the docket and field conditions improving, the Clarkson University Baseball team is set to host their first Liberty League weekend series of 2026 against Hobart College, Friday and Saturday, at Jack Phillips Stadium at Snell Field.

The Series: The teams are set to resume regularly scheduled Liberty League play with a single game Friday afternoon, followed by a doubleheader Saturday. Three runs made all the difference over three games last season as the two teams split a doubleheader on April 4th last year with the Statesmen taking game one, 3-2, and the Knights grabbing game two, 4-3. Weather the following day forced the final game of the league series to be postponed to April 28th, where Hobart would hold on for a 9-8 victory at Jefferson Community College.

Key Stats for Clarkson (10-8, 2-4 Liberty League): The Golden Knights have won the opener of their last two Liberty League series against RIT and Ithaca but were unable to take either of the two other contests of the three-game stands. CJ Kanick, Nathan Hartley and Ryan Petrie combined on the mound in the 11-1 win over the Bombers last Sunday. Kanick, who improved to 3-0 on the year, ranks second in the Liberty League in ERA (2.00) and has struck out 29 batters over 18 innings pitched. David Harris finished last weekend with six hits in the leadoff spot, the sophomore is currently on an eight-game hit streak.

Key Stats for Hobart College (17-6, 5-0 Liberty League): The Statesmen are coming off a three-game sweep over University of Rochester last weekend, where the team scored 11 or more runs in each outing. Offensively, Hobart finished with 24 hits on Sunday before producing four home runs as another 15-hit outing on Monday. Will Jones leads the team at the plate, batting .404 (19-47) with 19 RBIs but has appeared in just 15 contests so far. Sean Garvin has contributed 19 RBIs of his own, slugging three home runs while batting .350 (28-80) through 23 games. Relievers Charlie Forrest (0.59) and Chris Lockwood (0.84) both boast ERAs below 1.00, the former has appeared in 15.1 innings while the latter has gone 10.2 innings, all from the bullpen.
