Shirley and Vardion Named Liberty League All-Stars for CU Baseball

Juniors Jacob Shirley and Beau Vardion of the Clarkson University Baseball team were named Liberty League All-Stars when the conference announced its annual end-of-year awards and all-stars on Tuesday afternoon.

Shirley was picked as a Liberty League Second-Team All-Star, while Vardion was chosen as a Liberty League Third-Team All-Star, the second straight season he gained a nod from the league's coaches. 

Shirley finished the season ranked second in the conference in strikeouts with 67 and was third in the conference in innings pitched at 58.1. Seven of his starts resulted in two earned runs or fewer and also had seven appearances with six strikeouts or more. He had two complete games and went 5-4 with an earned run average of 4.47. 

Vardion led the team's regulars with an .891 OPS, leading the team with 41 hits, 59 total bases, and a .480 slugging percentage as well. He also ranked fifth in the conference with 15 doubles, going for two bases to help him with his .333 batting average.
