The Series: The Engineers have won three straight against Clarkson, including an 8-7 win in Troy last year. RPI led by a score of 7-2 midway through the third before Clarkson began to figure things out on offense. Robert Fox and Dylan Coan scored down the stretch to draw the Knights within one with 90 seconds to go but Clarkson's last ditch effort to tie the game was saved.

Key Stats for Clarkson (8-4, 2-3 Liberty League): The Knights boast the top defense in the conference thanks to a league-leading goalkeeper in Griffin Emerson, who tops the Liberty League in goals against average (8.18 gaa) and save percentage (.609) as well as the top defender in terms of caused turnovers in Jack Garvey (2.58 ctg). Robert Fox reached the 100-point plateau during Wednesday's game and added four more points on top to push his total to 50 for the year with 19 goals and 31 assists.

Key Stats for Rensselaer (8-7, 1-4 Liberty League): No slight against the current players, but the Engineers lost two key components from last year's team that has changed the outlook for the Engineers. Joseph Perry was a four-time All-American goalkeeper who led the conference in goals against average and Angelo Venuto was the league's best faceoff man, winning 66.4% of his tries and averaging nine groundballs per game. Therefore, possession is down for the Engineers and it has put more pressure on the offense to score since the defense is giving up more goals. RPI's offense is still clipping along, though, as Tyler Ruffini has 56 points in 15 games, while Cooper Manzi and Sean Smith both rank in the top 10 in the league in goals per game at 2.67 and 2.27, respectively.
