Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Knights Fall 15-5 to Union to Close Out 2026 Season

Schenectady, NY – Although the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team had its opportunities in the first half, the Golden Knights just could not break through Union College's defense as the Green and Gold found themselves in an early hole from which they could not recover, falling 15-5 to finish off the Liberty League's regular season on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights saw their season come to a close at 8-6 overall and 2-5 in the Liberty League, while Union improved to 6-10 and 4-3.

Union scored three times in the opening quarter, with all three coming in the final five-plus minutes, and then added another goal a few minutes into the second. Clarkson was able to break through on a goal by Donnie Duffus at 10:37, but Union scored four more times in the final eight minutes, running into the locker room with an 8-1 advantage.

Union extended its margin to 10-1 before Clarkson was able to get the offense rolling, scoring three times in a stretch of six minutes to get back into the contest. However, despite a 12-5 advantage of shots in the third quarter, the Knights stayed even in the period and did not make up any ground. Union did enough in the fourth to close out Clarkson by a double-digit gap.

Duffus scored three points for the Knights, tallying two goals and an assist, while both James O'Rourke and Robert Fox had two points on a goal and assist. Jack Garvey caused four turnovers for Clarkson, and Griffin Emerson posted 14 saves.

For Union, Emmett Lyne and Garrett Salit had four points on two goals and two assists each. Mekhi Taylor also added two goals and an assist. Luke Trainer snagged eight groundballs and John Sula notched seven groundballs. Nick Lynch had 13 saves in 50 minutes and Gavin Trahan had four saves in the final 10 minutes for the Garnet Chargers.
