After taking three from the Liberty League east division leaders RPI, last weekend, the Clarkson University Baseball team welcomes University of Rochester to Jack Phillips Stadium, Friday and Saturday, for another league homestand.

The Series: Reverting back to normal weekend scheduling, the teams are slated for a single game Friday starting at 3:00 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday with first pitch of game one at noon. Both sides opened up their conference schedule against the other last year with Rochester taking the first two of the three-game set, including a ten-inning win in game one before Clarkson earned a 19-9 run-rule win in game three. The win broke a 14-game losing streak against the Yellowjackets.
Key Stats for Clarkson (15-10, 6-6 Liberty League): Freshman Nolan Merrow had at least one hit in each game this past weekend against the Engineers including a 3-5 performance at the plate on Sunday with two runs and an RBI. James Mason knocked in the winning run in game two on Saturday with a single to left field that lifted the Knights to a 4-3 win in extra innings. CJ Kanick earned two wins over the course of two days despite going just 6.1 innings on the mound. The sophomore struck out the only batter he faced in the top of the 11th on Saturday before the walk-off in the bottom half of the frame. Jacob Shirley tallied his second straight win as a starter in game one, fanning six in six innings pitched to draw level at 3-3 on the year.
Key Stats for University of Rochester (10-15, 3-9 Liberty League): Losing two mid-week games scheduled against Oswego State due to weather, the Yellowjackets took two of three from Union last weekend in a cross-division series. Three different position players have 30 or more hits so far on the year as outfielder Benjamin Garber leads the way with 33 while batting .388 at the plate. Infielders Sammy Besztery and Carlos Barajas are just behind with 32 and 30, respectively. Through nine games played in conference, Besztery is leading all Yellowjackets at the plate with a .472 average. Starters for University of Rochester have been hit well coming into the weekend with no regular starters having an ERA below 4.50 (three or more games as a starter).
