The Series: Sunday is scheduled to be a doubleheader with first pitch at 1 p.m. followed by a single game Monday with the start time yet to be decided. Clarkson went 1-2 last year in Ithaca, travelling downstate in late March for the three-game series. As the home team for the weekend, the Golden Knights rebounded from a 6-4 loss in game one with a 5-4 win in game two. Jason McGee would be awarded the win on the mound in relief as the Knights would overturn a one-run deficit in the bottom of the ninth, walking it off courtesy of a wild pitch that allowed Seth Albert to score.
Key Stats for Clarkson (9-6, 1-2 Liberty League): Picking up a 4-3 extra innings victory over SUNY Cortland on Tuesday, the Golden Knights marked their first win over the Red Dragons since 2009. Cameron Barbulean picked up his first collegiate win on the mound in a zero hit, one strikeout relief performance over three innings which included closing the game out in the bottom of the tenth. The top of the Clarkson lineup continued a hot start to the season at the plate on Tuesday with the one through four hitters (David Harris, Aidan Kuefner, Joe Figliolino and Beau Vardion) combining for six of the team's nine hits. Vardion currently sits at fourth overall for batting average (.436) in the Liberty League with 24 hits and a .655 slugging percentage through 15 games.
Key Stats for Ithaca College (9-5, 2-1 Liberty League): The Bombers finished the first weekend of Liberty League play taking two games of three from University of Rochester with an 11-10 win on Friday and a 9-4 win in game two on Saturday. A 9-4 win over Hobart in a Wednesday matchup that was scheduled as non-league means Ithaca has scored 33 runs over the course of their last four outings. Junior Jack Picozzi is off to a 2-0 start on the mound over three appearances, striking out 18 while having walked just 11 over 16 innings. At the plate, Ethan Fantel and Sheldon Jay Walker III both enter the weekend batting .400 and above. Fantel (.480) has compiled 24 hits over 50 plate appearances, shown in his .760 slugging percentage while Walker III (.400) has stolen eight bags through his ten attempts so far.
