With the opening weekend of Liberty League play under their belts, the Clarkson University Baseball team makes a mid-week trip to SUNY Cortland, Tuesday afternoon, for a single non-league game.

The Series: The Red Dragons notched a 12-0 win over the Knights last April as Clarkson would manage just two hits over the nine inning contest. The two teams have met seven times since 2009 with Cortland earning a perfect 7-0 record through that span. Two games have been within two runs (2016,2023), the closest margin of defeat that Clarkson has experienced in the series.
Key Stats for Clarkson (8-6 overall, 1-2 Liberty League): The Golden Knights opened up conference play going 1-2 against RIT on Saturday and Sunday. CJ Kanick earned his second win of the year on the mound in game one on Saturday, striking out eight over six innings while Nathan Hartley was awarded the save through three innings in relief. Led by James Chagnon (3-5, 2 RBIs) and Seth Albert (2-3, 3 RBIs) at the plate, the 15 hits from Clarkson in game one were more than the team managed in game two and Sunday's game combined.
Key Stats for SUNY Cortland (10-6-1 overall, 3-0 SUNYAC): The Red Dragons are coming off a three-game SUNYAC opening sweep against Plattsburgh State last weekend as the team has won seven of their last eight contests. Nolan Smith finished 3-4 with a home run, two doubles and four RBIs in a 14-10 win on Sunday as the team used a six-run eighth inning to reverse a two-run deficit. Sophomore Talon Elkins finished just a double shy of hitting for the cycle in game two of Saturday's doubleheader while the team overall finished the first day of conference play with 25 runs, 30 hits and two wins over the visiting Cardinals.
