Queensbury, NY – Ariana Welter put together an impressive second run that netted her a top-10 finish to help lead the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team in its giant slalom results Sunday afternoon at West Mountain.

The Golden Knights' women placed second out of eight teams with a collective team time of 6:02.89, while the Clarkson men also took second, their team time combining for 5:33.67.

Welter was in 19th after the first run, but her second trip down the hill saw her place sixth in the field, putting her two runs as the ninth-fastest in the field of 87 FIS race skiers with a time of 2:18.13. Classmates Hannah Goetz and Elyse Donaghue finished in back-to-back spots and only six-tenths of a second apart, with Goetz coming in 21st in 2:22.08 and Donaghue taking 22nd in 2:22.68 to close out Clarkson's team time. Lily Rogers was in the top half of the field, taking 37th in 2:30.45. Parker Seitzer (44th, 2:33.34), Charlotte Talbott (47th, 2:39.45), and Kyla Butler (48th, 2:40.24) also just missed out on the top half of the field. Madeleine Allen did not finish her second run down the hill.

For the men, Gavin Ebert continued the strong start to his collegiate career, coming in 21st out of 116 skiers with a time of 2:08.66. Like Welter, he was stronger in the second run (26th first run, 18th second run), just missing out on a top-20 combined time. Edouard Brochu was 10 spots lower than Ebert, taking 31st in 2:10.93 and then James Tucker claimed the 45th spot in 2:14.08. The Knights had a few other skiers in the top half of the field as well, with Pedro Gonzalez coming in 47th (2:14.85), Reed Martin placing 50th (2:15.51), Collin Cotter taking 55th (2:15.71), and Noah Marino finishing 56th (2:16.57).
