Fisher Tops Clarkson's Effort, Knights Finish Fourth in Slalom

Wilmington, NY – Freshman LilyAnn Fisher excelled on her home hill on Thursday, helping the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team to a fourth place finish in the slalom on day three of the USCSA National Championships, held at Whiteface Mountain.

The Golden Knights just missed out on the podium by taking fourth out of 26 teams in the slalom on Thursday, registering a team time of 5:14.85, less than two seconds behind both third-place Rocky Mountain College and second-place Colgate University. Friday is the last scoring day for team totals when the Golden Knights' men compete in the slalom.

Fisher was fifth after her first run and had the 13th time in her second to combine for 1:40.54, good enough for sixth overall out of 129 skiers, and a time that was less than two seconds off the winner of the race. Seniors Elyse Donaghue and Ariana Welter closed out Clarkson's team time thanks to better second runs. Donaghue was in 25th after her first try, but she produced the ninth-fastest time in her second run to move up to 21st overall with a time of 1:45.61. Likewise, Welter was in a better spot on her second run, going from 32nd to 19th to end up in 27th overall in 1:48.70. Parker Seitzer also was well inside the top half of the field, coming in 45th place overall in 1:59.84. Hannah Goetz did not finish her first run.
