Sophomore Zach Ruthfield and freshman Bodie Smith contributed heavily to the offense for the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team last week and the duo earned Liberty League Weekly honors when the conference awards were announced on Monday afternoon.

Ruthfield was chosen as the Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week and Smith earned his third Liberty League Rookie of the Week nod.

Ruthfield assisted on all four goals by the Golden Knights in two games, connecting with Smith on a goal against Skidmore in a 1-1 tie, and then producing three assists, with another score by Smith, in a 3-0 win over Ithaca.

Ruthfield raised his point production in 2026 to 16 with the four assists, putting him at five goals and six helpers on the year. He is tied for fourth in the conference in assists and tied for fourth in total points.

Smith continued his outstanding first season with the Knights, pushing his season total to 22 points after scoring two goals in two games last week. He now leads the conference in both goals scored (10) and points (22). Smith became just the fourth player to reach double digits in goals in a single season at Clarkson in the past four decades, joining Larry Martin (1988, 1990, 1991), Michael Kirmse (1993), and Matt Nachman (1998). Only Martin and Dan Gasbarre (14) have scored more goals in their freshman season with the Golden Knights.
