Knights Finish Tune-Up at Middlebury Invitational

Middlebury, VT – Two more sessions took place for the Clarkson University Swimming & Diving team along with the rest of the field of the Middlebury Invitational on Saturday, as the Golden Knights closed out their final competitive meet of the 2026 season before the Liberty League Championships in February.

In the first session of the day, Aurora Zary had the best finish for any of the Clarkson swimmers taking third in the 400 individual medley with a time of 5:04.89. Evelyn Vieira matched that finish by taking third in the 1-meter dive with a score of 337.80 and then duplicated the result in the second session in the afternoon, recording 371.50 points in the 3-meter dive. Kirsten Isles also ended up with a third-place finish in the second session, closing out the 500 freestyle race with a time of 5:35.87.

Iles had the top time for the Knights in three events on Saturday, starting with her 500 freestyle run. She tied for the top performance with Natasha Hurff in the 100 freestyle (59.59) and also was the lead swimmer for Clarkson in the 200 freestyle (2:07.68). Along with tying Iles in the 100 freestyle, Hurff was the lead performer from Clarkson in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.82). Fiona Reilly (100 backstroke, 1:06.82) and Zary (200 backstroke, 2:22.23) also stood out for the Knights.

Mason Cartier was in the top six twice for his performance in the backstroke events, finishing fifth in 55.73 in the 100 backstroke and then sixth in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:02.98. Evan Paneras also swam well, placing fifth in the 100 butterfly (52.98) in the morning and then second in the 200 butterfly (2:00.53) in the afternoon.

Owen White and Casey Everett dueled for the top time in the 500 freestyle for the Knights, as White placed third in 4:50.00 and Everett was fourth in 4:50.21. Everett also began the day with a fifth-place finish in the 400 individual medley (4:33.44) while White came in ninth in the 200 breaststroke (2:18.78) in the afternoon. Gavin Stuhler (100 freestyle, 48.66) and Matt Sitarek (100 breaststroke, 1:03.02) each placed fourth, respectively, in their races. Gavin Cibelli also claimed third in both diving events, scoring 408.80 in the 1-meter and 392.65 in the 3-meter.
