Queensbury, NY – Gavin Ebert continued his standout first season with the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team as he helped the Golden Knights to a second-place finish in the giant slalom Saturday afternoon at the VTSU Castleton Carnival held at West Mountain.

The Golden Knights men placed second out of eight teams while the women also finished second among MacConnell Division squads. Clarkson and the rest of the FIS entries will compete in another giant slalom on Sunday.

Ebert was consistent for the Knights, taking 17th in his first run and 16th in his second to place 16th overall among the 119 participants, his two-run time combining for 2:07.83. Sophomore Edouard Brochu was next for the Knights, coming in 37th overall with a time of 2:10.41, and freshman Aleksa Lalic once again closed out Clarkson's team scoring time at 2:11.64, which was good enough for 45th in the field.

The Knights had plenty of help further down the leaderboard. Reed Martin was just three spots below Lalic in 48th (2:12.88) and Colin Cotter had an impressive second run to push him up to 52nd in 2:14.29. Pedro Gonzalez was 54th (2:14.37) and James Tucker took 57th (2:14.90), putting them in the top half of participants.

Clarkson's women finished in consecutive spots overall, each in the top 25. Elyse Donaghue had a strong second run to help her leapfrog her two scoring teammates, finishing with a time of 2:20.87 which was good enough for 21st in the field of 89 skiers. Barely one-tenth of a second later, Ariana Welter was 22nd in 2:21.01 and a similar gap saw Hannah Goetz take 23rd in 2:21.15. Goetz had been the leader for the Knights after the first run and was 14th, while Welter had been 25th, and Goetz had placed 27th.

The Knights had just one more skier in the top half of the field as Madeleine Allen took 41st in 2:30.01. Parker Seitzer (48th, 2:31.90), Kyla Butler (52nd, 2:34.83), and Lily Rogers (55th, 2:38.49) all finished in the top 60.
