Graduate student Matt Szwagulinski of the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team made history for the Golden Knights' 65-year-old program as he became the first player for the Green and Gold to be named a USILA All-American for the third time.

Szwagulinski was picked as a USILA All-American Honorable Mention for the third time in as many seasons just a day after being chosen as an All-ECAC performer. Prior to the announcement this week, Szwagulinski was one of six players at Clarkson to be named All-American on two occasions (Ed McMahon, Jerry Kieran, Shawn Stewart, Joe Zebrowski, and Ryan St. Croix).

The standout defenseman has also been picked to participate in the USILA Division III Senior All-Star Game on Friday, May 23rd at Roger Williams University.

Szwagulinski, a four-time Liberty League All-Star and First-Team selection in 2025, finished 10th in NCAA Division III in caused turnovers per game (2.81), easily the best figure in the Liberty League. Szwagulinski was also the only non-faceoff player that ranked in the top 10 in the conference in groundballs, recording 4.00 per game to place seventh. When considering only Liberty League contests, Szwagulinski ranked fifth in that category with 4.29 per game.

For his career, Szwagulinski finished with 246 groundballs and 143 caused turnovers, the latter figure easily the most in program history since caused turnovers began to be tracked roughly two decades ago. He also added 10 points in his career, including three goals and seven assists.
