Vardion Named Liberty League Performer of the Week

Sophomore Beau Vardion had another big weekend at the plate for the Clarkson University Baseball team and was rewarded on Monday when he was selected as the Liberty League Performer of the Week.

The second-year shortstop saw his eight-game hitting streak halted in the first game of the doubleheader against St. Lawrence, but he made up for it in the next two games. Overall, Vardion was 6-for-11 with a home run and two doubles, driving in eight runs and scoring four times in the three-game series.

Vardion has raised his average close to 175 points in the last few weeks, hitting .375/.429/600 entering Monday's makeup contest against Hobart College. His slugging percentage leads the team while his OPS of 1.029 is also tops on the team. In Liberty League only contests, Vardion is hitting .408/.456/.612 with 20 hits in 14 games, driving in 16 runs thanks to seven doubles.
