CU Swimming & Diving Preview - vs. SUNY New Paltz/SUNY Potsdam

Back swimming competitively for the first time in the month, the Clarkson University Swimming & Diving program will host SUNY New Paltz and SUNY Potsdam in a late addition to the 2024-25 schedule.

The Men: Clarkson's men won four of five dual meets in October and November thanks in large part to the consistency in results of several swimmers. Senior Michael Schroeder won nine individual events in dual meets, took the top spot in three events at the North Country Invitational in November, and then finished in the top five in three events in early December at RIT. Sophomore Casey Everett has picked up nine wins in individual starts, including two at the North Country Invitational. Sophomore Gavin Stuhler has come away victorious in the 50 freestyle five times this year, including four of five dual meets and at the NCI. Calvin Woolfolk produced a solid showing in Rochester in early December, finishing third in the 200 breaststroke and fourth in the 100 breaststroke.

The Women: So far this year, senior Gabriela McSwieney has won five different events among her seven victories overall. She has won the 100 backstroke and four different courses in the freestyle, including the 100, 400, 800, and 1000. First-year collegians have truly stood out for the Knights this season. Aurora Zary has won a backstroke event five times already despite competing in only four meets this year, two of which were invitationals with deeper fields. Fiona Reilly posted a pair of top five finishes in the 100 and 200 breaststroke at the Don Richards Invitational held in Rochester, and has also won six individual events in the six other meets this season. Evelyn Vieira quickly emerged as a top competitor in diving events for the Knights, winning five dives and setting new program standards along the way.
