Racing on a familiar mountain, the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team serves as hosts for MacConnell Division participants this weekend as the Golden Knights and the rest of the field ski at Whiteface Mountain.

The Women: Through the first two weekends, the Golden Knights have been challenged not only by the rest of the MacConnell Division, but by deep FIS fields that include Division I racers and others. When considering just the league opponents, the Golden Knights have performed well with four skiers in the top 30 of the MacConnell Division. Ariana Welter has three top five finishes thus far and is sixth overall in the rankings despite a fall last Saturday. Likewise, Hannah Goetz is ninth with three top six showings. Last season, Goetz was in the top 30 twice in the FIS races at Whiteface as the top performer in Wilmington. Kyla Butler (22nd) and Kylie Brino (26th) are also in the top 30 in the standings for the league and each had solid performances at Whiteface at last year's USCSA Nationals. Brino was 51st in the slalom in March while Butler was 63rd in the same event.

The Men: Clarkson's men have four skiers in the top 16 in the rankings so far, led by first-year collegian Edouard Brochu. The freshman ranks seventh overall in the conference with consistent performances that have him placed anywhere from sixth to eighth in the first four events. Jackson Knobloch has placed in the top 12 among MacConnell Division participants in all four races, twice finishing in the top 10. Josh Jusiak (12th) and Reed Martin (16th) are also in the early running for conference all-star status. Knobloch was comfortable at the USCSA Nationals last year at Wilmington, taking 15th overall with two top 30 finishes. Martin wasn't far behind, coming in 17th overall with two top 25 showings at nationals. Jusiak did not finish in the giant slalom last year, but was 40th in the slalom at Whiteface to go along with two top 40 finishes during the regular season FIS events.
